Clark County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a rash of commercial burglaries involving stolen medication from several area Walgreens.
Deputies responded to a burglary alarm at Walgreens, 13009 N.E. Highway 99, at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday, but did not locate any suspects, Sgt. Craig Randall said.
By working with the alarm company, Randall said, deputies were able to determine that a person wearing a dark hoodie pried the front doors open. The burglar then used a rock to smash the window of the store’s pharmacy section, reach through and use the door handle to gain access, Randall said.
The burglar grabbed an unknown amount of medication before quickly fleeing, he said.
The same scenario has happened to about four or five other Walgreens stores over the past few weeks, Randall said. Deputies are investigating the crimes.
