A body matching the description of a missing Vancouver man was found in the woods Wednesday afternoon in Clark County’s Mount Vista area.

Ryan Mayer, 27, was last seen leaving his house near the Salmon Creek Albertsons at Northeast 150th Street and 20th Avenue on March 14, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said. His family said he left without money or a cellphone.

At the time, he may have been under the influence of drugs after being clean for almost a year, the sheriff’s office said. Family members worked with the agency’s major crimes unit and used social media to try and find Mayer.

“The family of Ryan wanted to thank the community, family and friends for their support and assistance since Ryan’s disappearance,” Sgt. Kevin Allais said.

The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office is confirming Mayer’s identity and determining his cause of death.
