Vancouver — Evergreen Habitat for Humanity is getting ready to open its 32nd local home on April 26.

Matt and Sameena Bachmeier and their children, Christian, Kasandra and Kylee, will be the occupants of the home, which unlike some other Habitat projects was remodeled rather than built new. In 2010 Matt sustained a back injury at work that has left him incapable of working. Sameena, then a stay-at-home mom, now works full time to support the family. The family was selected by Evergreen Habitat for Humanity in 2013.

Habitat for Humanity’s first-ever volunteer, Clive Rainey, will be a special guest speaker at the dedication, which is set for 1 p.m. April 26 at 1010 W. 19th St.

Evergreen Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1991; it sells homes with a zero percent interest mortgage to qualifying families who contribute “sweat equity.”
