The Cascade Collegiate Conference presented two of its weekly honors to Concordia University athletes from Clark County.

Taylor Bussey, a sophomore shortstop, was named Softball Player of the Week; and junior Austin Hadley was named Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 30 through April 4.

• Bussey, a Prairie High School graduate, powered the Cavaliers — ranked No. 17 in NAIA — to a 3-1 weekend that included a key road split at No. 13 Oregon Tech.

Hitting two home runs, Bussey recorded a school record nine RBI in a 15-7 win the second game against the Owls on Saturday. Bussey tallied at least one hit in each game this week for a 1.357 slugging percentage.

• Hadley, an Evergreen High School graduate, allowed just 3 hits in 10 innings of work during the week.

The junior pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up a save at Pacific on Tuesday and returned with a nine-inning shutout performance on the road at the University of British Columbia. In a tense 1-0 game, Hadley retired 24 of 25 batters at UBC during one stretch while striking out a career-high 12 batters.

Track and field: Decker drops 800 time

Seattle Pacific University junior Lynelle Decker shaved a full second off her season-best time in the 800 meters Saturday at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival meet.

The Mountain View High School graduate was out-leaned at the line, finishing second in 2 minutes, 10.64 seconds.

She maintained the No. 4 slot in the NCAA Division II top times list for the season she reached with her 2:11.64 time from the previous week. Decker’s personal best is 2:10.58.

Softball: Locals lift Linfield

Linfield College sophomore designated hitter Erin Tauscher hit a pair of home runs and senior catcher McKenna Spieth scored five runs in the Wildcats’ doubleheader sweep of Puget Sound on Friday.

Spieth, a Union High School graduate, tripled as Linfield won the opener, 8-0, adding a two-run homer in her team’s 9-1 win in five innings. She has five homers this season, and 10 in her Linfield career.

Tauscher, a Camas High School graduate, hit back-to-back homers over the center field fence in the second game. She has six homers in 12 starts.

Erin Carson, a Camas High School graduate and senior outfielder at Linfield, drove in the first run of the second game.

Senior outfielder Grace Middelstadt, a Prairie High School graduate, was featured at http://tinyurl.com/q472crw on the Linfield athletics website.

Linfield then swept Pacific Lutheran on Saturday, improving to 21-9, 10-8 in Northwest Conference games.
