Battle Ground — The CAM Academy CloverBots bounced back after a last-place finish in their opening district FIRST Robotics competition to come in first out of 33 teams at the Wilsonville district event on March 14. After finishing second in the qualifying round, the CloverBots joined an alliance along with schools from Portland and Lake Oswego, Ore., and together the three teams scored a first-place finish. The CloverBots also won an engineering excellence award. Brenda Johnson, a coach for the team, said the students showed “resiliency and perseverance” after coming in 32nd out of 32 teams at the Oregon City event on March 8.
