Washougal — The Port of Camas/Washougal has proposed building a 5.73 acre waterfront park along the Columbia River. According to documents filed with the city of Washougal, the park will include restrooms, a picnic shelter, a fishing pier, two parking facilities, a community event plaza and a lawn area, water-access locations and a 12-foot-wide paved trail that meanders along the waterfront for almost three-quarters of a mile. Future trail connections will link to the dike trail and Capt. William Clark Park at Cottonwood Beach and Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Reserve. If all goes according to plan, construction will begin in summer 2015.
