Esther Short — More than 40 local vendors and businesses pulled together on Sept. 13 to provide a block party for the residents and friends of Open House Ministries, a family homeless shelter in downtown Vancouver. There were free haircuts, nail care, face painting, a bounce house, body art and Zumba. The Rotary Club of Greater Clark County provided barbecue for more than 500 people and Umpqua Bank served up more than 600 ice cream treats.
