A Vancouver man found dead by a co-worker Sunday afternoon at the Weyerhaeuser mill in Longview died of sudden cardiac arrest, according to the Cowlitz County Coroner’s Office.

Scott Trapp, 50, had a history of severe heart issues and died of natural causes, the office said.

Trapp, a JH Kelly contractor, was installing electrical wiring at the facility. Around 5 p.m. a co-worker noticed that “he was down,” said Longview police Sgt. Troy Brightbill.

On-site employees performed CPR and tried to revive Trapp with an automated external defibrillator but were unsuccessful, Brightbill said. Longview firefighters also were unable to revive Trapp, who was declared dead at the scene, Brightbill said.
