Battle Ground — A Battle Ground woman who had to make the tough choice to amputate part of her right leg is now receiving community support as she struggles with tough financial times. Jessica Rodriguez, 34, had surgery in August to halt the intense pain she had been dealing with because of an irregular connection between her veins and arteries, known as arteriovenous malformation. Rodriguez has been in and out of doctors’ offices for some time in dealing with that condition, as well as others including lymphedema, which causes swelling of the limbs. Because of the costs associated with caring for her conditions, which include seeing out-of-state specialists, the mother of two said in an email she is hoping a fundraising website will help pay for her medical bills. So far, she’s raised nearly $4,400 at www.gofundme.com/54j9eg. The annual fall auction on Friday at Boyds Auctions in Battle Ground, 29414 N.E. 82nd Ave., is also a benefit for Rodriguez. The auction runs from 3 to 7 p.m. Vancouver’s Dinomite Cupcakes will be selling sweets at the event, with a portion of the proceeds going to Rodriguez.
