Three Vancouver residents were injured Friday morning when a van’s tire blew out on Interstate 5 south of Battle Ground, causing it to hit the guardrail.

Marcela Vegalagunas, 51, was driving a Mercury Villager van north on the freeway near Milepost 9 around 10:20 a.m. when the right rear tire blew, according to the Washington State Patrol. The vehicle spun and struck the guardrail on the right side of the freeway.

Vegalagunas and her two passengers, Rosemary Chavez, 2, and Brittney Jones, 25, were all injured and taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Vegalagunas was listed in satisfactory condition at the hospital Friday night. Chavez and Jones had been discharged Friday.
