A man was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after his pickup veered off the road in Washougal and crashed into a fence.

The man, whose name was not released, was driving on South 27th Avenue near the waterfront when his pickup took out about 100 feet of chain-link fencing and crashed into a pickup, which stopped his vehicle, according to Detective Kate Tierney.

The man was unconscious when Washougal police arrived to the site, 778 S. 27th St., and transported the man to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

No drugs or alcohol are believed to be involved. Police suspect the man had a medical issue.
