Week 1 prep fall sports athlete of the week: Kaden Harbertson, Skyview cross country

Kaden Harbertson of Skyview cross country was voted The Columbian’s high school fall sports athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Sept. 13.

Harbertson collected 35 percent of the 709 votes cast by fans to beat out Brian Humphreys of Camas golf, who had 34 percent.

Harbertson placed second in the Hudson’s Bay Run-A-Ree in 15:55 to help Skyview win the team title.

The other nominees were Alexis Full of Union cross country, Taryn Ries of Ridgefield soccer and Brooke Van Sickle of Battle Ground volleyball.

Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Monday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Thursday.

Athletes may be elected player of the week once during the regular season, and no athlete can be nominated for the honor in consecutive weeks.
