KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Sections of Rim Drive at Crater Lake National Park will be free of cars the next two Saturdays.
The Klamath Falls Herald and News reports that Rim Drive from the North Entrance Junction to park headquarters will be closed to cars from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. the next two Saturdays.
Motorists will be able to travel from park headquarters to Rim Village and along West Rim Drive. Access also will be available to west-side trails during the closures, including Annie Creek, The Watchman, Lightning Springs and the North Entrance overlook.
Superintendent Craig Ackerman says the park intends to make car-free Saturdays an annual, late September event. It started last year and park officials got positive feedback.
