The Washington State Charter School Commission is hosting a public forum regarding the first proposed charter school in Clark County. The meeting is 6 to 7 p.m. today at Educational Service District 112, 2500 N.E. 65th Ave. in the Klickitat and Skamania rooms. The forum is designed for commission members to hear from and learn from community members.

Yelena Ovdiyenko, a teacher at Evergreen Public Schools, filed a proposal for Bilingual Charter Academy, a K-5 language immersion school, for the 2015-16 school year. Her plan is to enroll between 150 and 250 pupils in the school’s first year. Ovdiyenko teaches English language learners at Covington Middle School. Previously, she taught ELL and Russian at Evergreen High School.
