A regionwide day of charitable giving is set to start at 7 a.m. Thursday and run overnight until 7 a.m. Friday.

Give More 24! is an experiment in online “crowdfunding” that’s been organized by the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington. Nearly 100 local charities have signed up to be the beneficiaries of Internet giving through the foundation’s special event website, https://give-more-24.org.

Donors can give as much as they like or as little as $10, and can choose their favorite charities; there are numerous incentives, special prizes, special events and thank-you gifts available in conjunction with the fundraising campaign.

For example, Good Deed With Beads is a “beading ministry” of St. Andrew Lutheran Church that has raised $20,000 in 13 months by selling $5 handmade beaded bracelets to support homeless services in Clark County. The majority of the money has been directed to Council for the Homeless to use in assisting homeless or at-risk people.

Now, Good Deeds With Beads has created a limited edition bracelet featuring purple and green beads (Council for the Homeless colors) and a sterling silver house charm. The bracelet will thank donors who contribute $25 or more to the Council for the Homeless during Give More 24!
