The Port of Camas-Washougal took no action Tuesday on a proposed resolution addressing safety concerns over the increased movement of oil by rail in Clark County and Washington.
Commissioner Bill Ward proposed the resolution, which outlined multiple concerns, including explosive oil train derailments, and which spelled out steps the port would take to help boost public safety.
During the port’s regular public meeting, Ward and Commissioners Mark Lampton and Bill Macrae-Smith received a presentation by a representative of the joint venture that wants to build the Northwest’s largest oil-by-rail transfer terminal at the Port of Vancouver. Commissioners discussed the resolution. No vote was taken.
