Battle Ground — Battle Ground Public Schools teachers kicked off a series of professional development days on Sept. 10 by focusing on ways to support the academic success of students. Ten more professional development days have been scheduled throughout the school year, where students will be let out early, but teachers will stay behind to focus on implementing Common Core State Standards, assessments and more. “The past few years the district has realized that teachers need time to work together and collaborate around the new standards, new testing and new report cards,” Battle Ground Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Mark Ross said in a press release. “There are a lot of things we are asking teachers to do in addition to assessing student growth and creating goals.”
