CD Olimpia at Timbers

Kickoff: 7 p.m. today at Providence Park.

TV: Fox Sports 1 (cable Ch. 408/723).

Radio: none.

Tickets: timbers.com or 503-553-5555. This match is part of season-ticket packages.

CCL Group 5 standings — Olimpia 2-0-0, Portland 1-0-0, Alpha United 0-3-0. Group winner advances to 2015 CCL quarterfinals.

Timbers — This is Portland’s first chance to host a CONCACAF Champions League match. The Timbers and Olimpia of Honduras are competing for a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2015 tournament. Portland is 1-0 in group stage, a 4-1 win over Alpha United of Guyana. Olimpia has beaten Alpha United twice. Timbers coach Caleb Porter said he will field an experienced team. The Timbers have a vital league match with Vancouver on Saturday, so it is likely that many of the players who saw action at Colorado on Saturday will not play against Olimpia.

CD Olimpia — Nicknamed the Lions, Olimpia has won the most Honduran championships (28). Goalkeeper Noel Valladares was the captain of the Honduran team at the World Cup in Brazil and at least four other current Olimpia players have played for the Honduran national team. Olimpia twice won an earlier version of this tournament, the CONCACAF Champions Cup, in 1962 and 1988. In the current format, Olimpia was a quarterfinalist in 2010-11. Olimpia is 13-9-6 in the current format, including three draws and one loss against MLS competition.
