The White Salmon Bruins scored with about 35 seconds remaining for a 14-7 non-league road victory at Washougal.
Garret Duey ran for 85 yards and a tying touchdown early in the fourth quater for the Class 2A Greater St. Helens League’s Panthers.
“White Salmon came and played hard,” Washougal coach David Hajek said. “We weren’t quite ready for that. We made a lot of mistakes that cost us.”
After a scoreless first half, the Trico League’s Bruins controlled the second half, Hajek said. The Panthers only ran about 10 plays in the second half as White Salmon dominated possession, taking a lead in the third quarter then again on a quarterback draw in the final minute.
