Yale Elementary School closed for water testing

All classes have been canceled Friday, Sept. 12, at Yale Elementary School near Ariel because the school ran out of water.

School staff discovered the problem around 3 p.m. Thursday, Woodland Public Schools Superintendent Michael Green said. Last month, the school district installed a new water system at Yale, and it turns out it was not set to pump water at the correct rate.

“Everything’s working, but we ended up running the tank dry,” Green said. “It’s not even a matter of repair. It’s just that when you run the system dry, you have to have everything tested for bacteria.”

Green isn’t sure how long the school will stay closed, but he hopes it will reopen Monday morning.
