The La Center City Council voted Wednesday night to extend the city’s marijuana ban for another six months.
The moratorium went into effect immediately, just a couple weeks before the previous ban would have expired. It covers all recreational marijuana businesses — growers, processors and retailers — and collective gardens for medical marijuana, but consumption is still allowed.
The new ban will continue through March, but the council could extend it further or adopt an ordinance for a permanent ban at some point. In the meantime, city officials intend to consider their options for zoning regulations that could restrict marijuana businesses and collective gardens.
