The condition of a 44-year-old woman critically injured Wednesday in a vehicle crash near Battle Ground has improved.
Anna Konovalchik is in satisfactory condition in PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Her 13-year-old son, Jacob Konovalchik, was treated and released the night after the crash, according to hospital staff.
The updated condition of Anna Konovalchik’s 9-year-old daughter, who was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel in Portland, was not available, and authorities did not release the girl’s name.
The three were injured in a crash Wednesday night that was caused by a drunken driver, according to officials.
Shane Turner, 31, of Battle Ground faces charges of three counts of vehicular assault and was held in the Clark County Jail; he reportedly posted $25,000 bail and was released.
Turner was driving a Chevrolet pickup west on Northeast 219th Street. He failed to stop or yield and crashed into a southbound minivan at Northeast 182nd Avenue at about 6:45 p.m., according to court documents.
The two injured children attend Battle Ground schools. The district would not say which schools they attend, and has made no announcements related to the crash.
“The family has requested privacy,” said Sean Chavez, district spokesman.
A School Mobilization Assistance Resource Team consisting of the school psychologist and two psychologists from other district schools were available to meet with students Friday, and likely will be at schools on Monday, Chavez said.
The family’s third child was not in the car at the time of the accident.
