Several government agencies — state and federal — have announced free access to their sites on Saturday, Sept. 27, in the annual observance of National Public Lands Day.

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission said in a news release that day-use visitors will not need a Discover Pass to visit state parks.

The Discover Pass is a $30 annual or $10 one-day permit.

Federal land management agencies that will be offering free admission on Sept. 27 include the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Forest Service.

Nov. 11 will be the final fee-free day of 2014 for those agencies, in observance of Veterans Day.
