Lynne Griffith, the former executive director of C-Tran, has been appointed to a leadership position in the Washington State Department of Transportation, the agency announced Wednesday.

Griffith will serve as assistant secretary for the Washington State Ferries Division, according to WSDOT.

Griffith served as C-Tran’s executive director from 2000 to 2006 before leaving to take the top job at Pierce Transit in Pierce County. She was succeeded by current C-Tran Executive Director and CEO Jeff Hamm.

Griffith, still leading Pierce Transit, will begin her new role with WSDOT next month, according to WSDOT. Her job will involve guiding the ferries management team and ferries employees. She is the first woman to hold the position of Assistant Secretary for the Washington State Ferries Division, according to WSDOT.
