James Price of Camas was voted The Columbian’s high school football player of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Sept. 6.

Price collected 39 percent of the 2,118 votes cast by fans to beat out Alex Berfanger of Union and Rey Green of Evergreen, both of whom had 18 percent.

Price caught eight passes for 132 yards as Camas avenged its loss to Chiawana in last year’s state title game. Price also had an interception.

The other nominees were Wyatt Harsh of Woodland and Anthony Sanchez of Hudson’s Bay.

Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Saturday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Players may be elected player of the week once per month, and no player can be nominated for the honor in consecutive weeks.
