Local students earn degrees

The following Camas residents earned degrees from Western Washington University this spring. They include:

Tanner David Boyd, Bachelor of Arts in psychology, Brandon Carl Defibaugh, Bachelor of Science in geology, Isaac Edward Iven-Diemer, B.A. in anthropology;

Lindsay Marie Lake, B.A. in human services; Alison Mary Lehner, B.A. in human services; John Allan Longley, B.A. in Japanese; Hannah Glynne Manning, B.A. in behavioral neuroscience and Taha Momin Rabbani, B.S. in biology.

Western names students to honor roll

Several Camas students have been named to the honor roll at Western Washington University.

To be named to the honor roll, students must take at least 14 graded credit hours during a quarter and be in the top 10 percent of their class.

The local students are McKenna Rose Beckman, Emily Kate Hall and Stephanie Rose Howd.

SAT/ACT preparation seminar set

Life Beyond High School, a local non-profit, is hosting an SAT/ACT preparation workshops and a guest panel of business professionals at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18 at Arktana Shoes, 415 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas. It is designed to help prepare students for what they will need to know for college exams.

During the SAT portion, attendees will learn more from local test specialist Karen Goritski.

She will discuss strategies that test takers can utilize to potentially improve their test scores. She will also be explaining the difference between the SAT and ACT.

One student will receive a free hour of test preparation coaching with Goritski.

There will also be a panel of business professionals who will share college and career advice. They include Doug Speas from Novo Nordisk, Brandon Pasa from Columbia Chiropractic and Gail Smith from Evraz Steel.
