Vancouver-based telecom provider Integra announced Monday that it has named board member Robert Guth as interim CEO and president. Guth replaces Kevin O’Hara, who had served as CEO since 2011. O’Hara also has left the company’s board.
The board is working with an executive search firm to identify a permanent replacement for Guth in the CEO position, the company said in a statement. Company officials declined a request for an interview.
Board chairman Paul Sunu said in a statement that O’Hara provided leadership “during a time of significant transition in the company.
“Integra’s progress under Kevin’s watch has led us to financial stability, a strengthened network infrastructure and a portfolio of products that align well with our strategic focus on the enterprise marketplace,” Sunu said. “That strategic direction will not change, and with a new leader at the helm, I look forward to accelerating our momentum in that marketplace and continuing to sharpen our execution against our strategy.”
Guth joined Integra’s board of directors in 2009 and has extensive leadership experience in networking and telecommunications, including positions with Level 3 Communications and TelCove. Guth was elected chairman of the board of Lumos Networks in 2011 and also serves on the board of Otelco.
“Integra has a solid foundation for growth and a vast market opportunity for our high-bandwidth fiber networks and enterprise-ready products and services,” Guth said in a statement. “My charter is to continue to build on that foundation, and I look forward to working closely with our management team to develop the agenda for our next phase of growth and position the business for lasting success.”
Integra moved its headquarters in 2013 from Portland to the former Hewlett-Packard campus in east Vancouver. About 450 employees work at the new 80,000-square-foot headquarters,
The privately owned company operates 6,400 miles of long-haul fiber-optic infrastructure and 3,000 miles of metro fiber across 35 cities in 11 states.
