Carolene Carroll worked several jobs before she found a job that she loves. When she finishes her work making the area around the county buildings look nice, chances are Carroll is off to help a relative or a friend with cleaning their house or working in their yard. “I especially like working outside, and when I finish work, I go home and work in my yard,” Carroll said.
Name: Carolene Carroll.
Job/employer: Clark County Public Works Department.
Education/professional background: After high school I worked in several places, part time and full time, before I started with Clark County. I began as a temp in yard maintenance before I got on full time. I worked in landscaping in the different Clark County parks for 13 years. I enjoyed the work a lot and have really learned through trial and error. I learned about landscaping on the job. I had always wanted to work downtown, and when I learned of an opening I applied and was hired. I do the yard maintenance at downtown county buildings including the courthouse, juvenile and CRESA, plus other places around the county such as 78th Street Heritage Farm and parts of the Clark County Fairgrounds.
Most rewarding part of job: I like to make people feel good about where they work. I like to make the surroundings look nice.
