Jonah Roberts threw two touchdown passes and four different Spudders reached the end zone in the big road victory.

Noah Couch and David Causey had scoring receptions for Ridgefield (1-0), which led 21-0 at halftime. Nathan Eggleston and Cody Duncan added rushing touchdowns. Spudders safety Nick Thomas was a defensive standout, coach Dan Andersen said.

“We’ve got a lot of things to fix, but it was a good way to start the season,” Andersen said. “We fix a few things, and we’re going to be powerful.”

Andersen had praise for his Class 2A team’s 1A opponent.

“It was a well-fought battle,” Andersen said. “Castle Rock has a bunch of tough kids. Our kids just came together. That’s definitely what is making a difference.”
