Non-league football: Hockinson 28, La Center 3

The Columbian
Published: September 5, 2014, 5:00pm

Hockinson lost a fumble on their first play of 2014, but those jitters would soon become an afterthought as the team took an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

Tommy Harshaw ran 56 yards for the first score of the game and followed that up with a 3-yard run less than a minute later after La Center fumbled the kickoff.

Harshaw led the team in rushing, eclipsing the century mark halfway through the second quarter.

Austen Johnson punched in a 10-yard run to take a commanding 21-0 lead in the first half, although the momentum shifted toward the Wildcats in the second half.

Led by the sophomore duo of quarterback Wyatt Aguirre and running back Brett Judd, La Center ran all over the field, but were unable to capitalize on the three forced turnovers and find the endzone.

Hockinson’s defense was clutch when it needed to be, and Harshaw sealed the victory late in the fourth with his third touchdown of the game.
