RIDGEFIELD — A complete rebuild of the southbound Gee Creek Rest Area off Interstate 5 will close the facility for 12 weeks starting 5 a.m. Monday, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The southbound Gee Creek Rest Area, near state Highway 502, sees about 800,000 visitors per year — a figure calculated by the number of toilet flushes. The northbound rest area will remain open during the project.
