o What to do in the garden in September: 11 a.m. Sept. 6. A monthly seminar on maintenance in the landscape and garden.

o Design Coaching: You design, you save: By appointment, Sept. 13. Before your appointment you will receive a packet on how to measure your design area. Plan to come in an hour prior to appointment to peruse the garden center taking notes on what plant material you would like to include in your design and we will help you design your new landscape. o Bonsai made easy workshop: 11 a.m. Sept. 20. Learn the qualities and traits to look for when selecting a plant. You will go home with a bonsai-in-training. Silent observers welcome free of charge. Registration required. Fee $35 includes starter bonsai plant, pot and potting supplies.

o Spruce up your fall containers: 11 a.m. Sept. 27. Learn which are the perfect plants to help keep your container gardens looking good through the fall and winter months.

How to gain more plants for your flower beds: 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 6 at Pacific Park Natural Demonstration Area, Northeast 18th Street and Northeast 172nd Avenue. Master gardeners of Clark County will host a free workshop with William McClenathan, host of the TV show “Garden Time.” Learn how and when to divide perennials, which seeds can be collected for later use and how to take cuttings from plants. 360-397-6060, ext. 5738.

Backyard Composting: 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 6 at CASEE, 11104 N.E. 149th St., Brush Prairie. Start building soil health in your own backyard. Learn the science of composting and visit a composting demonstration site to view composting bins and systems in action. Free. Registration required, click here.

Master Gardeners tour of Oregon’s Mid-Valley: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 18. Depart from Enterprise Rent-a-Car, 9319 N.E. Highway 99. The tour will go to Broadacres Nursery in Aurora, Ore., Big Al’s Garden Center and the last stop will be Little Prince of Oregon, a wholesale grower of perennials, N.W. natives, ground covers and more.
