Woodland — Following 60 hours of training, Woodland’s mayor was awarded the Advanced Certificate of Municipal Leadership from the Association of Washington Cities last month.
Grover Laseke, the former police chief who became the city’s first full-time mayor in 2012, was presented the certificate during the Aug. 18 city council meeting.
The certificate program is meant to “enhance the ability of elected municipal officials by providing knowledge and skills to effectively operate within the law, plan for the future, secure and manage funds, and foster community and staff relationships.”
