Army Corps to waive fees for vets, others

PORTLAND — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will waive day-use fees for veterans, active and reserve service members and their families on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

The fee waiver applies at more than 2,200 Corps-operated recreation areas nationwide. But it will make a difference at only a handful of sites near the Portland-Vancouver area, where many Corps facilities are already free.

The recreation sites at Bonneville Dam, for example, don’t collect any fees. But the fee waiver will eliminate fees at Seufert Park near The Dalles Dam, as well as LePage Park and Plymouth Park near John Day Dam.

The fee waiver requires only verbal confirmation of military service, according to the Corps. Other public agencies have offered fee-free days on Veterans Day in past years, but specifics may vary.
