Vancouver — Dozens of residents patrolled Vancouver on foot, bike and car as they joined Vancouver police officers in a saturation patrol on Sept. 30. The Neighbors on Watch volunteers spent the evening as eyes and ears, looking for and reporting suspicious activity. The 44 patrol team members, the most to ever take part in a saturation patrol, divided into 16 teams for the 6 to 8:30 p.m. event. Trained NOW volunteers spend a minimum of four hours on patrol each month. They wear uniforms, but are told not to confront anyone they deem suspicious, instead reporting the activity to law enforcement.
