Juvenile Justice and Rehabilitation Administration Region 3 seeks volunteers to mentor youth in the juvenile justice system. Mentors visit youth in facilities at least once a month, talk to them by phone and write letters as often as possible. An intern in the Mentor Program is also needed to educate the community about the program and its needs, create flyers, recruit volunteers to be mentors, and pursue grants and donation opportunities.

American Red Cross is looking for volunteer couriers to pick up and deliver blood products. A valid driver’s license, vehicle and auto insurance are required. Volunteers will be reimbursed for mileage.

Vancouver Symphony Orchestra seeks help with phones, processing ticket purchases, preparing mailings and updating forms.

• The Clark County Food Bank seeks truck drivers and riders, and food packers, Monday through Friday, on a continuing basis.

The nonprofit also needs volunteers for the Turkey Trot, a 5K and 10K race at Klineline Pond on Thanksgiving morning. All proceeds will support the food bank.

High school students and veterans are sought for S&VEN, Students & Veterans Engaging, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Clark County Food Bank. Students and veterans will come together to help the hungry and learn about the effects of hunger in the community.

• Meals on Wheels People is seeking 200 volunteers to deliver meals to homebound seniors on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27. Meals are picked up at one of five locations between 10 and 11 a.m.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, their own car, vehicle insurance and will have to undergo a criminal background check.

To register as a volunteer driver, go to mealsonwheelspeople.org/Thanksgiving. Background check paperwork must be submitted by Nov. 19.

• The county commissioners seek to fill one of three Clark County positions on the seven-member Fort Vancouver Regional Library District Board of Trustees by someone living in Clark County outside the Vancouver and Camas city limits. The seven-year term begins in January 2015.

Applicants should address their understanding of: challenges before a public library board; perspectives concerning public library services, facilities and materials such as print and electronic books and magazines, CDs, DVDs, digital resources; and the district’s funding as a junior taxing district.

• The county board of health seeks to fill a vacancy on the Mosquito Control Board for a two-year term beginning in Jan., 2015. Applicants must be residents of Commissioner District 2, which covers east Clark County and the cities of Vancouver, Battle Ground, Camas and Washougal.

The Mosquito Control Board meets quarterly — in February, May, August and November — and are open to the public. Meetings are 7 to 8:30 p.m.
