East Vancouver — Union High School is looking to promote safe driving while competing in a campaign to potentially win a $100,000 grant. The school is taking part in Celebrate My Drive, a State Farm Insurance promotion, where schools compete by trying to have the most people sign up to commit to being safe behind the wheel. The top five schools in the large and small high school categories will win a $100,000 prize, with a portion of that meant to be dedicated to promoting safe driving education for teens. As of Monday, Union High is in fifth place. The community dealt with a driving-related tragedy in August when 18-year-old Union graduate London Stoll died in a car crash. The contest started Oct. 15 and ends Friday. Learn more at www.celebratemydrive.com.
