Construction won’t start until December, but the city of Vancouver announced Wednesday that $450,000 from the federal Community Development Block Grant program will pay for several improvements to streets and parks.

The money was awarded to the city and the Neighborhood Traffic Safety Alliance.

Meadow Homes Park, 4500 E. 18th St., will receive new playground equipment and lighting, while a climbing structure will be replaced at Marshall Park, 1015 E. McLoughlin Blvd., and lighting will be installed at Fruit Valley Park, 3200 Fruit Valley Road.

Audible crossing signals and ADA accessible sidewalks will be installed at the intersection of Evergreen Boulevard and C Street, and several pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements will be made on 33rd Street between St. Johns Boulevard and K Street.

The improvements will be made between December and June, according to the news release.
