Camas — For creating a plan that reduced its energy consumption by 17 percent since 2009, 11 Camas School District buildings have been noted for being symbols of environmental excellence by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The latest district buildings to receive the EPA’s Energy Star designation are Lacamas Heights Elementary School and the Zellerbach Administration Center.

The awards will be presented during an Oct. 27 school board meeting. Nine Camas School District schools have previously received the designation.

As a U.S. Department of Energy Better Buildings Challenge Partner, the district has a goal of reducing its energy use by 20 percent before 2020, according to a press release.
