Vancouver Mayor Leavitt has to delay asking about charter

Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt sent an email Monday afternoon to members of the city council, explaining that a procedural matter would prevent him from asking at Monday evening’s meeting if they had interest in discussing the proposed Clark County charter and possibly taking a stance.

Monday’s meeting included a citizen forum, a twice-monthly event. On nights with citizen forums, the agenda does not include time for council communications.

Leavitt had intended to broach the subject of the proposed charter during council communications.

Now, he’ll wait until the council communications portion of the Oct. 20 meeting, he wrote.

The charter will be on the Nov. 4 ballot.

The Camas City Council, the only local elected body to take a stance, has unanimously endorsed the charter.
