BATTLE GROUND — The North County Community Food Bank’s annual “Scare Away Hunger” dinner auction and costume party is set for Oct. 25.
It’s the nonprofit agency’s biggest fundraiser of the year, according to executive director Elizabeth Cerveny, and this year the agency is facing rising costs of food, utilities and supplies.
To meet the level of need, she said, the North County Community Food Bank buys at least 5,000 pounds of food per week. Forty percent of the food bank’s clients are children, and 20 percent are seniors living on Social Security and disability payments. Young families and people living in cars are on the rise, she said.
The “Scare Away Hunger” dinner party is set for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Battle Ground Community Center, 912 E. Main St. It will feature silent and live auctions. Event sponsors, donors and diners are all welcome to visit www.nccfoodbank.org/dinner-auction.html to learn about helping out, reserving tables and buying tickets. Individual tickets are $75, a table of eight is $575, and two tables of eight are $1,000.
