The sweep was conducted by three teams of officers from the Vancouver Police Department’s East and West Neighborhood Response Teams, neighborhood police officers, Vancouver K-9 and the Washington State Department of Corrections, according to a VPD bulletin issued Saturday afternoon.
The sweep targeted people with “no bail” warrants in connection with cases involving felony property crimes, misdemeanor property crimes if the target had multiple warrants, and DOC warrants, regardless of the original charge, the bulletin said.
“Warrant sweeps which focus on repeat offenders, are an important component to improve community safety and increase community livability in Vancouver,” the bulletin said.
The sweep initially focused on 60 specific individuals who met were considered likely to re-offend while on their warrant status, or were persons of interest for ongoing investigations, according to the bulletin.
