Non-league football: Yelm 50, Evergreen 40

The Tornadoes and Plainsmen combined to score 70 second-half points, and host Yelm came away with the 10-point victory in a non-league high school football game.

Yelm’s Brenden Thompson rushed for 347 yards and seven touchdowns.

Yelm had a 24-6 lead early in the third quarter before Evergreen got its offense moving full speed.

Quarterback Jerrin Williams threw long TD passes to Billy Nelson and Rey Green. Williams also had a touchdown run in the quarter.

Evergreen’s Dallas Goodpaster returned an interception 12 yards for Evergreen’s first touchdown of the fourth quarter.

Thompson answered for Yelm, though, giving his squad a 44-33 lead.

Williams broke free for a 61-yard touchdown run to pull Evergreen within four points.

But again, Thompson showed up in the end zone again for Yelm.
