Scholarships

These 2014 high school graduates have reported receiving the following scholarships:

49TH STREET ACADEMY

Chelsea Hansberry, daughter of Kathy and Steven Hansberry, received a $1,000 honors college scholarship, a $700 music scholarship, and a $11,500 president’s scholarship from Azusa Pacific University, where she will study leadership and business management.

Cristhian Fernandez, son of Maria and Gonzalo Fernandez, received a $4,000 Future Cougs of Color scholarship from Washington State University Vancouver, where he will major in athletic training.

Marquis’ Taylor, son of Chisa and Robert Taylor, received a renewable $8,000 merit scholarship from George Fox University, where he is in the mechanical engineering program.


HERITAGE HIGH SCHOOL

Miranda Cabral, daughter of Melissa Cayton and Ruben Cabral, will study nursing at Clark College. She received a $3,500 KMR Foundation scholarship.

Anjuli Davidson, daughter of Sneh and Darrell Davidson, received a $2,000 Multicultural Achievement Program scholarship from Western Washington University, where she will study bioanthropology.


HUDSON’S BAY HIGH SCHOOL

Bailey Freeman, daughter of Julie and Darren Freeman, received a $2,500 Edward A. Asparza Drumline scholarship, and an $8,000 merit scholarship from the University of Washington, where she will major in medicine.

Ashley Kourn, daughter of Sara and Sophal Kourn, received a $2,500 Washington State Opportunity scholarship, and a $4,000 scholarship from the University of Washington, where she will major in biochemistry.

LEWIS & CLARK HIGH SCHOOL

Caitlin Bowers received a $4,000 Vancouver Rotary scholarship. She will study at Clark College.

Tamara Kent, a nursing student at Clark College, received a $4,000 Vancouver Rotary scholarship.

SKYVIEW HIGH SCHOOL

Katie Bittner, daughter of Becky and Jim Bittner, received a renewable $2,500 Washington State Opportunity scholarship. She will major in computer science at the University of Washington.

Emily Giovannozzi, daughter of Michelle and Mark Giovannozzi, will study biology at the University of Puget Sound, where she received a faculty scholarship.

WASHOUGAL HIGH SCHOOL

Brendon Brown, son of Melissa and Dan Swanson, received a $3,000 scholarship from the University of California Santa Barbara, where he is majoring in environmental studies.
