Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities seeks volunteers in the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program. Ombudsmen make regular visits to the 6,000 residents living in long-term care facilities in Southwest Washington. The next certification training series will be Oct. 27, Nov. 3 and 4.


Clark County Historical Museum
is looking for volunteers with experience with InDesign software to work with the layout and cover design of the Annual Anthology of Historical Articles.

Furry Friends, a nonprofit cat rescue and adoption organization, seeks help with transportation, pet showings, fundraising, senior visits and pet therapy, at park events, and with phone and email support. Vet techs are also needed to provide medical care a few times per month.


Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge
seeks volunteers to provide information to the public about the natural and cultural resources of the refuge.

The Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership is looking for help planting trees, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Salmon Creek in Vancouver. All ages are welcome and students can earn required community service hours for school. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Registration is required and plantings are limited to 40 participants. Register online at www.estuarypartnership.org/get-involved/volunteering.

• The county commissioners seek to fill two positions on the Clark County Planning Commission starting in January. Applicants should be prepared to serve through 2018.

The seven-member commission makes recommendations to the board on land-use planning, zoning and development in rural and other areas outside any city boundary.
