3A GSHL football: Kelso 65, Fort Vancouver 12

Mason Meeker rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns as the Hilanders remained undefeated in the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League with a 65-12 victory Friday at Kiggins Bowl.

Seven different Kelso players scored touchdowns as the Hilanders gained 388 rushing yards at Kiggins Bowl. Kelso outgained Fort 443-110.

The Hilanders (3-2, 2-0) also closed in on one of two postseason berths in the four-team Class 3A Greater St. Helens League.

Though there have been a total of three league games played in the 3A GSHL, Kelso has won two of them. Columbia River has yet to play and Prairie is 1-1 in league.

Fort (1-4, 0-2) fell behind 21-0 in the first quarter and never regained its footing. The Trappers forced four turnovers, but couldn’t stop the Hilanders from gaining big chunks of yards. Kelso averaged 9.2 yards per rush.

Jeremiah Davis had Fort’s biggest play, a 36-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. David Bishop also caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Suell.
