Guenther, Reiter help WWU reach nationals
Western Washington University’s Taylor Guenther placed 26th and Austen Reiter was 70th at the NCAA Division II West Regional Cross Country Championships held Saturday in Billings, Mont.
Guenther, a Prairie High School graduate, ran the 6-kilometer (3.7-mile) course in 22 minutes, 11.95 seconds. She was the Vikings’ second finisher.
Reiter, a Camas High School graduate, was WWU’s fifth finisher, with a time of 23:16.81.
The juniors helped the team qualify for NCAA Division II nationals with a sixth place finish.
The national meet is Dec. 6 in Louisville, Ky.

Haden named to D-II All-Region team
Western Washington junior goalkeeper Ashley Haden is a second-team selection to the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer West Region All-Star Team released Monday.
The Hockinson High School graduate allowed just seven goals for the 16-1-4 Vikings, posting 14 shutouts and a goals-against average of 0.32.
Selections were made by the D2SIDA, the the Division II Sports Information Directors Association.

NU’s Governor named NAIA Scholar-Athlete
Northwest University senior Meagan Governor was named a 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete, the association announced Monday.
Governor, a graduate of La Center High School graduate, returned to the Eagles this fall after a medical redshirt season a year ago.
The honor requires a student-athlete to be at least a junior in academic standing with a grade-point average of at least 3.5.
