Two men and a teenage boy are accused of invading a Hazel Dell motel room early Monday and robbing four occupants at knifepoint.

Terrance B. Joshua, 21, Cupertino P. Bailey, 19, and Dayton S. Miller, 16, all of Vancouver, appeared in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery.

Judge Scott Collier held Joshua and Bailey in the Clark County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail apiece. Miller, who is being tried as an adult, was held in the Juvenile Detention Center in lieu of $75,000.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies were summoned to Kay’s Motel, 6700 N.E. Highway 99, just after 1 a.m. Monday on a report of a burglary. The three suspects, who were all dressed in black and ski masks, knocked on a door and forced their way inside when occupant Richard Stone answered the door, according to a court affidavit by sheriff’s Deputy Wayne Phillips.

The suspects, who all were wielding knives, asked for money and marijuana and took about $80 from Stone. Joshua allegedly punched another occupant, Cody Tangeman, in the temple. The suspects then fled by running across Highway 99, Phillips wrote.

While Phillips was interviewing the alleged victims, other deputies detained two suspects at 900 N.E. Minnehaha St.

The motel room occupants positively identified the suspects as their attackers. Stone said he knows Miller, Phillips wrote.

Bailey allegedly confessed to being involved in the burglary and robbery.

The defendants are scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Dec. 5.
