Tyler Dinh won the race for boys ages 9-10. Savanna Craig won the race for girls ages 15-16. Victoria Kehler won the race for girls 17-18.

The Storm qualified 22 individual runners and four teams for the national championship meet.

The regional championships were held at Lower Woodland Park in Seattle.

Dinh won his 3,000-meter race with a time of 11 minutes and 35 seconds, helping the Storm place fifth among nine teams in the bantam boys division.

Craig, a Mountain View High sophomore, covered the 5,000-meter course in 19:54 to win her regional title. Kehler, a senior from Heritage, finished in 21 minutes to win the oldest division for girls.

In the division for girls ages 13-14, Evergreen finished second among nine teams behind a Bowerman Athletic Club squad. Rachel Blair led the way, finishing third with a time of 15:09 over the 4,000-meter course. In the girls 11-12 division, the Storm placed third among nine teams. Sydnee Dyer finished the 3,000-meter course in 12:04 to lead Evergreen’s eight runners in that field.

In the boys 13-14 division, Evergreen placed fourth among 10 teams. A 14th-place finish from Ryan Cibart led that effort.

Other Storm runners who quailfied individually for nationals were: Ryan Stuck (boys 8 and younger), Jameson Fisher (boys 9-10), Aldon Fay (boys 9-10), Gabriella Warta (girls 11-12), Makena Harbertson (girls 11-12), Olivia Dinnel (girls 11-12), Hunter Davenport (boys 11-12), Aiden Pullen (boys 15-16), Richard Dyer (boys 15-16) and Sean Flynn (boys 15-16).

The national championships will be held on Dec. 13 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Evergreen Storm founder Scott Slamp said on Monday that he did not yet know how many Storm runners will attend nationals, but he expects at least 10 will travel to South Carolina.

Coaching the Evergreen Storm cross country program this fall are Mike McKinney, Scott Timmons and Becky Rembisz.
