Save the Date: Firstenburg Center offers pre-holiday fun for the family

Spend the weekend with family during the Family Fun Day and Movie Night at Firstenburg Community Center, 700 N.E. 136th Ave., Vancouver. From noon to 7:30 p.m. today, visitors can enjoy activities from basketball, swimming, rock climbing, pickle ball and more. Bring some blankets and pillows as “The Lego Movie,” rated G, will be shown at 6:30 p.m. in the gym with provided popcorn. All activities are free. If you’re looking to get a start on shopping, the Clark County Holiday Gift Fair runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Visitors can find gift ideas and holiday trees, along with a pet adoption event, craft workshop and photos with Santa at the Clark County Event Center, 17402 N.E. Delfel Road, Ridgefield. Start Thanksgiving with a family-friendly run. The Ridgefield Church of the Nazarene hosts its fifth annual Turkey Trot: Walk for Water, 7 a.m. for registration, 8 a.m. start on Thursday. The event offers a 5K walk/run and a 10K run Thanksgiving morning, with all proceeds benefiting projects to provide clean water. Neighbors can gather for the Uptown Village Tree Lighting from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 29 outside Compass Church, 1812 Main St., Vancouver.

The city of Washougal will present its annual Lighted Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting at 6 p.m. Dec. 4 from the Reflection Plaza, 201 Pendleton Way, Washougal. Those interested in participating in the parade can register at City Hall or at www.cityofwashougal.us.
